The 2023 Congress of the Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction (ASPIRE) will burst back to a face-to-face format in the wake of COVID-19 restrictions with South Australia’s capital city Adelaide to host the event.

The Congress will be presented at the Adelaide Convention Centre from 7 to 10 September next year addressing the theme Welcome Back To Our Future.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced the past two ASPIRE Congresses in 2021 and 2022 to be presented in virtual format.

ASPIRE President, Professor Tin-Chiu Li, said while the virtual meetings had been very successful in linking members on-line with local and international experts in medically assisted reproduction, the return to the first in-person Congress since 2019 would be welcomed.

“We can at last return to our truly collegiate atmosphere as ASPIRE members come together in Adelaide to share their knowledge and ideas in a stimulating and inspiring face-to-face format,” he said.

“The universities of Adelaide have for many years been at the forefront of research in reproductive medicine and they are supported by IVF units that have close ties and training links to the Asia Pacific region.

“For example, the Robinson Research Institute in Adelaide is a world leader in innovations in reproductive immunology, PCOS, endometriosis and embryology.”

ASPIRE 2023 Congress Scientific Committee Chair, Professor Budi Wiweko, said the meeting would feature a range of keynote lectures on topics relating to basic sciences in reproduction, embryology and clinical perspectives.

“The scientific program will include pre-Congress workshops put together by the ASPIRE Special Interest Groups, speciality streams, debates, company symposiums and meet-the-expert sessions,” he added.

ASPIRE 2023 Local Organising Committee Chair, Professor Louise Hull, said Adelaide was honoured to host the meeting.

“Adelaide is ranked in the top three liveable cities in the world, and we look forward to welcoming delegates to the Congress in Spring time next year,” she said.

“Adelaide is the Australian heartland of quality food and wine produce. It offers a peaceful and safe atmosphere with easy walking access to art galleries, museums, cafés, restaurants, and roof top bars.

“We hope you will take time to explore our exceptional tourism regions, beautiful hills, beaches and cityscapes, and see unique Australian animals in their natural environment.

“We are glad to Welcome You Back to Our Future and look forward to an inspiring meeting in Adelaide where we can plan our combined future together.”
